Co-Generation (CoGen) is a system that produces a combination of heat and power (CHP) by utilizing
the by-product (i.e. flue gas) from electricity generation. The electricity generated can
minimize/eliminate the dependence on electricity from the grid which costs higher in most cases. At
the same time, the heat garnered can be used as heat source to produce steam / hot water / hot oil
for plant uses, via Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) / Heat Recovery Hot Water (HRHW) / Heat
Recovery Hot Oil (HRHO). The fuel source of the CoGen system can be natural gas, biogas, syngas
from gasifying, biomass, etc.
